Safe Trick-or-Treat

Since the '80's, the Quincy Chamber of Commerce has hosted the annual Safe Trick-or-Treat event in Quincy, California. The intent was to provide a safe environment for kids to trick-or-treat without walking through dark neighborhoods at night. Held every year on Halloween, the event runs from 3:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Merchants all over downtown and even in East Quincy participate by handing out candy to the kids.

Events like this require a lot of coordination with various groups and organizations, so special thanks go out to the Plumas County Board of Supervisors, Plumas County Department of Public Works, the California Highway Patrol and the Plumas County Sheriff's Department.

Many thanks to all the volunteers from the Quincy Jr./Sr. High School S Club, the Feather River College Men's & Women's Basketball Teams, Billy Wight, John Kolb and Matthew Haesche for making this event so much fun for everyone!

Rough estimates calculated 1,800 pieces of candy were given out from our booth alone throughout the event.

The High Sierra Dancing Witches did a fantastic job teaching some dance moves to the kids and young-at-heart!

This year's free Safe Trick-or-Treat map was a smashing success - we gave away 250 copies before the night was through.
